Making the Most of Networking Events


I am an advocate for multi-use initiatives and networking events provide a unique chance to build relationships that can lead to job opportunities and practice for job interviews. However, attending is only the first step. The real value comes from preparing, listening, following up and maintaining connections.


  • Prepare for events to land interviews. Set clear Goals, understand the format (formal dinner, a casual mixer, a structured meeting, or a virtual event), identify key people, research target companies, prep your elevator pitch and questions (what do you want to get out of the event?), have a networking tracker, understand the appropriate attire (Tech is different from Investment Banking).
